When Pastor Tim and Mary Ellen Ludwig answered the call to prayerfully start a mission church in Minnesota more than 30 years ago, they developed a special connection with the Hermantown community. God blessed that bond and has watched over Peace In Christ Lutheran Church through the years as we have grown together in God’s love and grace.
Peace In Christ made its beginnings in the Boy Scouts of America building on Stebner Rd. The opening service was held on September 15th, 1991. Two days later, the Minnesota North District purchased 30 acres for the site of the new church on Maple Grove Rd, where the church still resides to this day. Peace In Christ became an official congregation with 53 charter members at the Charter Sunday Celebration on September 15th, 1992. This new congregation broke ground at the new site on Maple Grove Rd. on June 27th, 1993, holding their first service in the new building on Easter Sunday on April 3rd, 1994.
This new building, which serves as the fellowship hall of the church today, served as the church building for ten years. On February 2nd, 2004, the sanctuary was dedicated to the glory of God and has been used for worship ever since.
Peace In Christ was not done growing yet! On September 9th, 2012, they dedicated the education wing, consisting of nine classrooms and is used not only for Sunday School classrooms and our Youth room, but also is the home of our pre-school during the week.
Thanks be to God, Peace In Christ now has over 700 members. For 30 years, this congregation has focused on preaching Christ crucified, teaching God's children of all ages, serving each other as a church family, and reaching out to be the hands and feet of Christ to the community around us.
